How mystified are you by your overlocker? Well don’t be, it really is simple when you know how. This class is your one-stop-shop for using an overlocker.
This class takes you step-by-step around a four-thread overlocker, it’s parts and it’s functions. We will walk, step by step through threading it and how to overcome common problems as you do so. You will learn the link between stitch length and cutting width and how to use these and the tensions to create new stitches. We will cover how to use an overlocker for corners and curved edges and go on to introduce you to using decorative threads.
During the class, we will create stitch samples and once you have got to grips with these we will add in the use of differential feed by learning what it is and when to apply it.
Finally, we will make some items together using the overlocker – a pillowcase, a drawstring bag and a placemat.
Overlockers look extremely tricky beasts, but this two evening class will demystify your overlocker and get you using it in your everyday sewing. The class will cover:-
- The parts of the overlocker and what it’s function and stitch is
- Threading and rethreading the overlocker
- Working with stitch length
- Understanding differential feed
- Sewing corners and curved edges
- Creating rolled hems
- Making two projects completely with your overlocker
I have two overlockers and so if you don’t have an overlocker and would like to use mine to see if you like them, then that is possible – just let me know at the time of booking.
