GillyMac 2023 Summer Sewing Challenge

This year’s challenge returns to free motion quilting practice, and there are two ways in which you can take part – a free and a low cost option. The challenge runs from the week commencing (w/c) 24th July, when you can access the requirements, through to the (w/c) 4th of September, when we can share our resulting bugs. This is a fun, no-stress Summer activity.  If you want to participate, I will enjoy working with you all to improve and challenge you with your free-motion sewing. Description

This year’s challenge returns to free motion quilting practice, and there are two ways in which you can take part.

Option 1 – Like me, you can make a lap-sized quilt (sized 48″ x 50″ approx)  containing an attractive ladybird motif onto which we sew the free motion designs in the challenge.

Option 2 – Alternatively, you can trace the outline of the ladybird onto quilting fabric or a sheet and take part in the challenge without the appliqué. This will create a whole cloth version of the challenge with is the same size (approx 48″ x 50″).

As usual, there is a free way to take part and a low-cost option. Essentially, the difference is the videos are only available for three days in the free version, and they do not contain the inclusion drawing practice for each part, in which I draw out each design pen on paper before sewing it out.
