Description
There is no need to be daunted by an overlocker. You will never want to be without one when you understand how to set it up and use it for various applications. I designed this class for anyone who is thinking about buying an overlocker or already has one and wants to learn more about it. It is a fun class with a maximum of five participants, and you will discover lots! Please let me know if you would like to use a class machine at time of booking.
By the end of the day, you will understand your overlocker and have the confidence to use it with a variety of fabrics and to create different stitches. In the morning, we will learn the basics of threading and tension, loopers and cutting width. We will go on to use the tension dials to create different stitches as learning how to sew rolled hems. Towards the end of the day, we will sew a simple Tilly & The Buttons Billie Sweatshirt using the overlocker.
You will learn
- How to confidently thread the overlocker and identify a balanced stitch
- Know when and how to change the stitch width, length and cutting distance
- Understand how to use differential feed with woven and stretch fabrics
- How to create gathers, blind hems, rolled hems and flatlock seams using the tension settings
- How to sew a simple garment on the overlocker
