I enjoy using Pinterest to give me visual prompts. However, I find it incredibly frustrating when searching for links to the source documents, and they aren’t there. It can be such hard work. Consequently, once I find great people to follow, I tend to go back to them time and time again. I have dipped into the boards from these favourite people to provide you with some inspiration for some Summer makes. Below you will find my Top 5 Summer picks from Pinterest with links directly to the patterns. There is a real mix of practical projects and fun blocks. I hope you enjoy them.

Sew Can She – Fabric Storage Box

I first discovered Caroline Fairbanks-Critchfield on Craftsy several years ago. She and her sister provide lots of sewing inspiration on the SewSheCan Blog. I have chosen a fabric storage box to share with you. It is 15” wide by 10 “ deep and 10” high and includes a vinyl window and lid. The pattern is here.

Spencer Ogg – Cosmetic Travel Pod

This fantastic British bag designer writes fabulous patterns and delivers excellent YouTube Tutorials. For this Summer’s pick, I have chosen her Cosmetic Travel Pod in the hope of us travelling again soon. The pattern is here.

Sewing Times – Half-Moon Pencil Case

For us, school ends this week, but I know I will blink, and it will be time to prepare to go back. I thought this pencil case looked like a fabulous mini make. The pattern is here.

Tilda – Kimono Girl Pillow

With the Olympics and Paralympics about to start in Japan, I have picked this smashing Kimono Girl Pillow as a fantastic Summer 2021 project. The pattern is here.

Handiworx – LadyBird Mini Block

Finally, on some days I like to sew a little something. Nothing fussy. I thought this Ladybird block would look great on the front of a zipped pouch or expanded for the front of a bag or even as a coaster. The pattern is here.

As always I would love to see what you make!
